Interview at Infosys

Interviewer: Tell me about yourself.
Candidate: I am Kondesh Kulkarni. I did my Tele Communication engineering from BabanRao Dhole-Patil Institute of Technology.

Interviewer: BabanRao Dhole-Patil Institute of Technology? I had never heard of this college before!
Candidate: Great! Even I had not heard of it before getting an admission into it. What happened is - due to cricket world cup I scored badly in 12th. I was getting a paid seat in a good college. But my father said (I prefer to call him 'baap') - "I cannot invest so much of money". (The baap actually said - "I will never waste so much of money on you"). So I had to join this college. Frankly speaking this name - BabanRao Dhole-Patil, can at the most be related to a Shetakari Mahavidyalaya.

Interviewer: ok, ok. It seems you have taken 6 years to complete your engineering.
Candidate : Actually I tried my best to finish it in 4 years. But you know , these cricket matches and football world cup, and tennis tournaments..It is difficult to concentrate. So I flunked in 2nd and 3rd year. So in all I took 4 + 2 = 7 years.

Interviewer: But 4+2 is 6.
Candidate: Oh, is it? You know I always had KT in maths. But I will try to keep this in mind. 4+2 is 6, good, thanks. These cricket matches really affect exams a lot. I think they should ban it.

Interviewer : Good to know that you want cricket matches to be banned.
Candidate: No, no.. I am talking about Exams!!

Interviewer: Ok, What is your biggest achievement in life?
Candidate: Obviously, completing my Engineering. My mom never thought I would complete it. In fact, when I flunked in 3rd year, she was looking for a job for me in BEST (Bus corporation in Maharashtra) through some relative ..

Interviewer: Do you have any plans of higher study?
Candidate: He he he.. Are you kidding? Completing 'lower' education itself was so much of pain!!

Interviewer: Let's talk about technical stuff. On which platforms have you worked?

Candidate: Well, I work at SEEPZ, so you can say Andheri is my current platform. Earlier I was at Vashi center. So Vashi was my platform then. As you can see I have experience of different platforms! (Vashi and Andheri are the places in Mumbai)

Interviewer: And which languages have you used?

Candidate: Marathi, Hindi, English. By the way, I can keep quiet in German, French, Russian and many other languages.

Interviewer: Why VC is better than VB?
Candidate: It is a common sense - C comes after B. So VC is a higher version than VB. I heard very soon they are coming up with a new language VD!

Interviewer : Do you know anything about Assembly Language?
Candidate : Well, I have not heard of it. But I guess, this is the language our ministers and MPs use in assembly.

Interviewer: What is your general project experience?
Candidate: My general experience about projects is - most of the times they are in pipeline!

Interviewer: Can you tell me about your current job?
Candidate: Sure, Currently I am working for Bata InfoTech ltd. Since joining BIL, I am on Bench. Before joining BIL, I used to think that Bench was another software like Windows.

Interviewer: Do you have any project management experience?
Candidate: No, but I guess it shouldn't be difficult. I know Word and Excel. I can talk a lot. I know how to dial for International phone call and use speaker facility. And very important - I know few words like - 'Showstoppers', 'hotfixes', 'SEI-CMM', 'quality', 'versioncontrol', 'deadlines', 'Customer Satisfaction' etc. Also I can blame others for my mistakes!

Interviewer: What are your expectations from our company?
Candidate: Not much.1. I should at least get 40,000 in hand.
2. I would like to work on a live EJB project. But it should not have deadlines. I personally feel that pressure affects natural talent.
3. I believe in flexi-timings.
4. Dress code is against basic freedom, so I would like to wear t-shirt and jeans.
5. We must have sat-sun off. I will suggest wednesday off also, so as to avoid breakdown due to overwork.
6. I would like to go abroad 3 times a year on short term preferably 1-2 months) assignments. Personally I prefer US, Australia and Europe . But considering the fact that there is a world cup in West Indies in 2007,I don't mind going there in that period . As you can see I am modest and don't have many expectations. So can I assume my selection?

Interviewer: He he he ha ha ha. Thanks for your interest in our organization. In fact I was never entertained so much before. :-)) We look forward to working with you .. welcome to Infosys :-)

Eat Beautifully!

You've probably heard the saying, "You are what you eat."

It's true — from your hair right down to your toes! Luckily, the same foods that keep you healthy and fit also help keep you looking your best!

So here are some foods to definitely include in your diet:

Citrus fruits help your body form collagen, which is essential to keep skin looking young and smooth!
Tomatoes are rich in vitamins A and C and potassium — all of which help give skin a radiant glow!
Garlic is reported to combat wrinkles and help restore tissue. It's like a natural anti-wrinkle cream!
Dairy foods — like skim milk, low-fat yogurt, and low-fat cheese — help keep your teeth strong and your smile bright!
Sweet potatoes are packed with vitamin A, which promotes clear, smooth skin!So eat right and stay beautiful!

The Cellulite Diet

While dieting to lose weight may not help, a diet that "feeds" skin just might, according to Murad -- whose book details such a diet. He says foods rich in nutrients such as lecithin, essential fatty acids, amino acids, and antioxidants reduce cellular inflammation, reduce fluids, and increase circulation deep in skin cells. All this, he says, works to strengthen cell membranes and keep cellulite from migrating to the surface.

"The idea is to encourage collagen production to build the middle layer of connective tissue -- and improve the circulation," Murad tells WebMD.

The foods he recommends include eggs, soy, cauliflower, and peanut butter (for lecithin); flaxseed, olive and canola oils, ground flax, and raw nuts (for essential fatty acids); berries, pomegranates, goji berries (a type of berry found in Central Asia), and citrus fruits like oranges and grapefruits (for antioxidants, polyphenols, and amino acids).

Murad says that diet alone can help. But if you're not a conscientious eater, he suggests high-potency supplements, plus an herbal skin serum that he says helps burn fat cells.

Trusting God in the Tough Times

Trusting God in the Tough Times

Today's Scripture

“Trust the Lord completely; don't ever trust yourself. In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success” Proverbs 3:5-6 (TLB).

Today's Word from Joel

We all face tough times that challenge everything we believe. And we often have the hardest time seeing God's hand when we're in difficult situations - because we just don't understand what He is doing. But the exhilarating thing is that God uses tough times to show us His favor and blessing. It may not feel comfortable at first, but seek God's face all the more when you're struggling. When you ask Him, He will give you everything you could possibly ever need to make it through the trying times. And He will give you special eyes to see Him through all of your hardships. Your human understanding will fall short, so just give God full control and watch the blessings flow.

A Prayer for Today

God, give me the eyes to see Your face in the midst of my troubles. Thank You for never leaving me and for giving me what I need to persevere through my roughest days. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Fastest Way to Get Answers

Short prayers for various situations

Holyand eternal God,
in you we live and move and have our being.
In all our cares and occupations,
guide and govern us by your Spirit,
that we may both remember and reveal your presence;
through our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Preserve us, O Lord, while waking,and guard us while sleeping,that awake we may watch with Christ,and asleep may rest in your peace.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is discord, union;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled,as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

O God,the author of peace and lover of concord;
to know you is eternal life,to serve you is perfect freedom.
Defend us your servants in every stress and danger,that we may trust in your defence and not fear the power of any adversaries;
through Jesus Christ our Redeemer.Amen.
God be in my head, and in my understanding;God be in my eyes, and in my looking;God be in my mouth, and in my speaking;God be in my heart, and in my thinking;God be in my end, and at my departing.

In darkness and in light,
in trouble and in joy,help us, heavenly Father,
to trust your love,to serve your purpose,
and to praise your name,through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,and the love of God,and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen.

For the ill
Loving God,
keep us aware of your presence,
support us with your power,
comfort us with your protection,
give us strengthand establish us in your peace.

For the dying
God our creator and our end,
give us grace to bear bravely the changes we must undergo,
the pain we may have to faceto come to our home with you.
Give us the courage to welcomethat unimaginable moment awaiting us;
give us trust and confidence;
and at the last give us peace.

When someone has died
God of heaven and earth,help us to entrust our loved ones to your care.
When sorrow darkens our lives, teach us to look to you.
May we on earth always know the comfort of your presence,and share with them the rest and peace you give, in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Loving God,
be with us as we face the mystery of life and death.
Strengthen us as we bear this loss.Help us to face the future with courage and confidence in your care and love;
through our Redeemer, Jesus Christ.

God is at Work for You

Today's Scripture
“I know what I am planning for you,” says the Lord. “I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future” Jeremiah 29:11 (NCV).

Today's Word from Joel
Too often, we think God is just out there - watching and waiting for us to get things right. God is a big God, but He loves you and He wants to help bring the best things possible into your life. God is at work in your life each and every day, blessing you and preparing you for great and wonderful things that you can’t even imagine! Your entire perspective will radically change when you realize God is in your everyday experiences. Even when we are not completely faithful to Him, He is always faithful to us! Make God your hope and rely solely on Him, and He’ll faithfully work things out that will bless you, protect you and encourage you!

A Prayer for Today
God, thank You for always having my best in mind. I know that You love me and want the best for Your children. Help me to be faithful to You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

May God Rest Ravi's Soul in Peace

A friend of mine from school died recently.Please say a word of prayer for his family.

A passerby spotted the body of Ravi Anumagalla, 29, on Ocracoke Island on Monday, one day after he got caught in a strong current while swimming off the coast.Anumagalla, a native of India, worked as a design engineer at Jefferson Lab in Newport News. Debbie Magaldi, a spokeswoman for Jefferson Lab, said he started there as an intern after coming to the United States to pursue his Master's in engineering from Old Dominion University. He then became a term employee and became a full-time staff member last year.
Paul Brindza, who supervised Anumagalla at Jefferson Lab, described him as "a good guy" and a hard worker."He was here living the American Dream," Brindza said. "He bought a house, bought a piece of investment property. He was active in sports and just bought a motorcycle. He was someone who everyone liked."Brindza said Anumagalla was planning to be married this summer in India.According to police reports, Anumagalla, who was swimming with friends during a Memorial Day weekend camping trip, was reported missing around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The U.S. Coast Guard and the Cape Hatteras National Park Service searched for about 24 hours before suspending the effort.Anumagalla's body was found about two hours after the search ended, 200 yards from where he had disappeared.Magaldi said Anumagalla played on the Jefferson Lab softball team and was a regular volunteer at the Science Bowl competitions hosted at Jefferson Lab every year.On a Web page put up in his memory, friends began posting condolence messages earlier this week. One friend wrote: "Ravi's enthusiasm and love for life were undeniable. May his soul rest in peace. We pray for his family and friends to get the strength to deal with this agonizing tragedy."Daily Press reporter Shawn Day contributed to this report.
